WOYWW 561 – Ali Wade Designs

Good morning to you all. You will notice that this website is in the process of being changed. I will still be blogging about crafting (in fact there will be more blog posts – and even some videos to keep you entertained). However, it will be more about linking you to my sources of passive income – Printables and being an affiliate. I will be blogging about living with chronic health conditions and still bringing in some much needed income to the household. I am currently working on a range of products, which should be finished by next week, and then I will have a proper link to my Etsy shop (and I am investigating how to sell via this site).

What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday is explained more over at Stamping Ground, so please join in. My crafty table is showing a lot of potential, as there is a large HobbyCraft box sitting there waiting to be opened! You can also see a greetings card waiting to be finished (I just need to finish the backing paper design), and also a box of acrylic effect pastes (from Lidl). The box contains some more supplies for my new Cricut Maker – and some crafty tech for foiling. I will do an unboxing video and blog post later today or tomorrow.

This is the project we made in the most recent craft workshop I attended at SET Crafts in Haverfordwest. A gorgeous mixed media door hanger.

I hope everyone is well and happy. We are trying to decide when to go away to Spain next – whether to just get on a plane next week and enjoy some early spring sunshine, or to leave it until April/May when it will be a bit warmer in the area that we plan to explore (Girona, north of Barcelona). My health has been very up and down in the past 2 weeks, so I am thinking that staying at home is a more attractive option this week (I struggle with travel now). I actually got to cycle outside yesterday – a strong headwind, so I was very glad of my electric bike – but it was sunny and the roads were mostly dry. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful and quiet area – I only saw one vehicle on my whole 15 km ride.

Here are some photos.

Back to rain this morning, but at least the strong winds have gone for now.

  1. The door hanger is really lovely Ali, I’m glad you enjoyed the workshop. You seem really happy with your electric bike, I must admit I’m quite tempted by one. There’s easy cycling along the coast path both ways from BP and not on the roads either!

  2. You have done a great job with your door hanger. Love the photos of your ride in the countryside.

  3. ‘’Passive income’ now there’s a phrase. Because its not really is it…. even if it’s ‘just’ about someone following a link, there’s been some work done to generate it. Am glad that you have found something that will enable you to generate an income, but please remember that WOYWW isn’t just about linking and selling. (I totally see that you’ve never used WOYWW for it in the past and it may not be your intended big link day/post, but I’m trying to forestall a lot of complaints by reminding you!). Meanwhile…a Cricut Maker, wow, you intend to do some serious making then? I can’t wait to see!

    1. Passive income is definitely not without work, but it does mean that once I have finished designs and got them loaded to my shops, my customers can purchase without having so much direct input from me. This is necessary on the many days when I am too ill/in too much pain to get on the computer or deal with phone calls. It also enables us to travel to Spain without interrupting our businesses. The Cricut Maker is mostly for personal fun, because I love crafty tech. However, I am using it to make some items for clients and samples of my own designs. ps I will not be using WOYWW posts for affiliate links; I just wanted my friends on here to know what I am planning and why my site is changing.

  4. Gorgeous door hanger. Good luck with the designs and business. Have a good week. Happy WOYWW. Caro x (#15)

  5. Glad you have managed to get out a little on your bike Ali. Those tubes of different mediums are cool. I bought a similar box for Eva at Christmas. Enjoy your visit to Spain whenever you decide to take it. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #1

  6. Good luck with your Etsy site! I hope you are very successful. The dragonfly doorhanger is awesome, I love dragonflies! Lovely photos! Have a great week, Lindart #22
