SORRY – THE EVENT HAS STARTED AND THE SALE PAGE IS CLOSED. I WILL BE SHARING ANY FUTURE EVENTS.

On 15th June 2019 the very first Creative Christianity Summit was held in London. I remember that I wanted to attend, but I struggle with travel now and it would have needed me to stay in a hotel for at least 2 nights. It looked like a lot of fun (see pictures below).

Therefore, I was excited when I heard that this year it would be a Virtual Conference and would also be 5 days of ‘Faith. Fun & Creativity’.

I am very new to Bible Journaling and Faith Craft, but have 25 years experience in the crafting world. I am enjoying learning about the challenges of creating within a Bible (restricted space and the very thin paper!) and also tackling other Faith Craft projects (like my Zine, My Little Book of Faith – join my newsletter list to get the free download).

The Creative Christianity Summit will be a chance for me to explore faith and creativity that fits in around Lockdown.

Buy your ticket now (£39) and join in from 2 pm on Wednesday 17th June 2020. We will have access to all of the sessions for 12 months, so don’t worry if you know that your schedule will not allow you to be present for each live event.

Here are some of the speakers –

Thea Muir
Artist and Founder of I Am So Many Things

Josie Gamble
Creative Director at Christian Creative Network UK

Janina Victoria
Graphic Designer at Hillsong UK and Watercolour Artist

Chloe Ainsley
Eco-friendly designer at Chloe Ainsley Creative

Ian Barnard
Hand lettering artist (see my blog post on Lettering for his website).

Some of the creative workshops include –

Temitope Manning
Watercolour & brush lettering artist at Living Letter Designs

Heather Kauffman
Founder of HK Creations & Bible journaller

Doodling Faith
Bible Journaling workshop

There is a Facebook group for all attendees, so I would suggest buying your ticket now, and then you have several days of friendly chat and inspiration before the big event starts next week.

See you there!

Drawing Flowers on Procreate with my iPad – 1st Weekly Update

I am aiming to write a blog post at the beginning of each week showing you what I have been up to the week before. There may well be a theme for that week, as in last week when I did one of Teela Cunningham’s YouTube (Every Tuesday) tutorials each day. Otherwise it will be a general round-up of my very varied weeks.

I was struggling with my Fibromyalgia last week, so only managed to do 4 of Teela’s tutorials, and focused on flower illustration (definitely going back to do some of the lettering ones soon). It was so useful. I gained lots of confidence using Procreate, which I recommend to everyone – and is the reason why I finally bought an iPad. I am really proud of what I created, and have already used the sunflower design to order some new address labels and notecards for myself.

I would love to see what you create by following a tutorial. It doesn’t have to be flowers, illustration or on Procreate. Tag me #aliwadedesigns on Instagram, or comment below with an image.

If you would like to have some ideas of tutorials to follow, read my Lettering and Illustration blog posts.

Otherwise I started the colouring classes that come with the full set of Ink Lily alcohol marker pens. I post regular updates on my Instagram (@aliwadedesigns) and also within the Facebook group for Ink Lily (everyone welcome who loves colouring). If you want to see more of these pens, then click HERE.

I noticed that at 2.15 pm and 7.30 pm today (Monday 18th May 2020) there is a launch on Create & Craft of a range of pen sets, which are very affordable and would be great for general colouring. Click HERE to take a look.

Happy Monday and enjoy your creative week.

This week I will be using Canva for some personal projects each day (I use it daily anyway for my blogging and social media) – scrapbook pages and more.

Lettering – brilliant links to resources for beginners (updated*)

Lettering, whether digitally on Procreate/other programs or the traditional ‘on paper’ form, is so popular now. If you want to learn more, and get some inspiration and resources, then here is a list for you. I would suggest that you subscribe to their newsletters, grab the freebies, watch some tutorials and go to Instagram/Pinterest for inspiration.

Digital Lettering

Liz Kohler Brown – is listed in my blog post for Illustrating Beginners – but deserves to be here too! One of my favourite Skillshare teachers. She has now published her iPad Lettering Book – see below.

Karin @ ipadlettering.com – A fantastic resources, with tutorials, lots of freebies and wonderful Procreate brushes.

(Sign up to my email list for an exclusive discount code)

Teela @ every-tuesday.com – Possibly my favourite teacher, and her Tuesday Tribe newsletter is a highlight of my digital week. Subscribe to get 50 design & lettering files. Her YouTube channel is a brilliant source of education and inspiration (for lettering and illustration).

Jillian & Jordan @ Loveleigh Loops.com – Another fantastic resource. So many freebies, blog posts and inspiration/encouragement. I will be taking one of their paid courses later this year.

Max @ lettering-daily.com – This is more for hand lettering and calligraphy (which he explains the difference between), but there are also Procreate brushes. His freebies include a 30 day Hand Lettering Planner.

Ian Barnard is a Hand Lettering Artist, who is also a fantastic tutor on Procreate. He has a Skillshare class and often does live lessons on social media. Definitely worth following on Instagram and YouTube. If you want to buy his well known Letter & Grid Builder Bundle to use on Procreate, this is the cheapest price at the moment.

Stefan Kunz – the King of Instagram, YouTube and his website is a joy. You need to watch one of his live sessions. Known for his lettering and typography.

Hand Lettering

Lisa Funk @ handlettereddesign.com – Loads of freebies for total beginners.

Sarah Ensign @ ensigninsights.com – Great resources including Skillshare courses (click on the link to get 2 free months).

Here is another brilliant website for hand lettering. Sign up for her free mini course HERE.

Creativebug has a good selection of lettering-specific classes.

I could go on for a lot longer and if you need help finding resources or inspiration, then just email me at hello@aliwade.com.

I would love to see your lettering efforts. Tag me on Instagram @aliwadedesigns.
