A Wolf-themed card

I had the brief this week to create a card for a 12th birthday, for a boy who liked wolves, gaming, texture/glitter and other things. I have recently joined the Crafts Subscription with Creative Fabrica and wanted to start using my Cricut Maker more often, so went into Creative Fabrica and searched for ‘Wolf’. Lots of lovely options came up and chose this stunning design.

After downloading it and unzipping the file, I took it into Cricut Design Space and saved as a cut file (there was also the print & cut option), as I wanted to draw it with the machine and a metallic pen.

It drew it beautifully (just on a piece of white card from my scrap box) and I then used one of my new Sizzix dies to cut the two border strips (so I also used my new Sizzix Bigshot Express machine – a very productive session!). I backed it onto a piece of cork card from Create & Craft, cut to size. This was mounted onto a piece of card with a slight gold glitter. I then added a bit of gold glitter to the wolf design with a Gelly Roll pen (my favourite!).

The insert was designed using the My Craft Studio program (email me at hello@aliwade.com if you want to know more about that) and a couple of designs from the Rare Earth Delicious Digis Vol.2 usb. Just printed onto good quality printer paper with my Epson XP-950 printer.

I really enjoyed designing a card again and using some tech/stash that was new to me.

I enter this card into the following challenges –

Creative Sketchy Girls Challenge #49, Male Card

Love to Scrap Challenge Blog #134, For The Boys

Crafty Friends #138, Men and/or Boys

My supplies were –

Wolf design from Creative Fabrica

Sizzix die, Thinlits Geo Trio by Sharon Drury from Create & Craft

Cork Sheets from Create & Craft

(Unfortunately the Rare Earth Delicious Digis Vol 2 has sold out. I couldn’t find it on Ebay, but perhaps a request on one of the Facebook craft stash groups could be fruitful.)

Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen in Gold from Craft Stash

(I wasn’t able to find the exact Cricut pen I used either – the Gel Pen Set, Metallic Dark Petals, seems to be out of stock everywhere. However, it is a metallic grey.)

WOYWW 570 – New Pens

Good morning everyone from a sunny Pembrokeshire. It is really showing how dirty our windows are at the moment! The title of this post refers to what is on my crafty table right now – I had a Scrawlr box delivered yesterday – and also to the Ink Lily pen & stamp set I ordered from Create & Craft. This includes monthly video tutorials and I am excited to finally learn how to colour properly with alcohol markers.

I only found out about Scrawlr last month and immediately ordered the latest box to try, and one of the older ones which arrived yesterday. I liked this one because of the pens included (Gelly Roll are one of my all-time favourites and the colours of the alcohol markers are gorgeous) and also the style of artwork of the featured artist. Annika Landberg mostly creates ATCs, a big love of my life.

I am continuing with the Floral & Nature Surface Design course, and got some ‘loose sketching’ done. I used the pens from the first Artful Box for this. There is definitely a pen theme this week! (If anyone is interested in learning about Surface Pattern Designs, they are offering all the courses at 50% off – Make It In Design.

I hope that everyone is ok. My health continues to be up and down, but no Covid-19 symptoms for anyone in our family or immediate friends/neighbours. Our friends in Spain were very excited to be allowed out to exercise again and I definitely don’t take for granted having the farm to walk around.

A short post today, as it is mostly business/website stuff that is filling my head lately. We are watching some good tv though. The very last episode of Homeland this week (anyone else addicted like we are?), loving the return of the Great British Sewing Bee, old episodes of Silent Witness and also Grayson’s Art Club.

Finally, a question for you all. Which stamping platform would you recommend?

Stay safe.

ps How rude of me. I nearly forgot to add why we are posting pictures of our crafty workspaces on a Wednesday. It is because it is WOYWW – What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Join in at Stamping Ground.
