WOYWW 568 – Projects In Waiting (edited version)

Apologies – I opened up Stamping Ground and just went with the number of the latest blog post showing at the time, 567, and added my post to the linky thing. I then went back to read what I thought would be last week’s posts and realised that 567 was last week, and that the post for this week (22nd April) was not showing yet (I had wondered why there were so many people linking up at 7.30 am!!). Julia – can you delete my post at #34, and I will link to No. 568 when you have published. I will comment again!!

Good morning all. I didn’t type a post last week, as there simply was nothing crafty happening in my craft room. Nothing to show this week either, except for the sad sight of a box of goodies from Hobbycraft still not unpacked (I received this weeks ago) and a Crystal Card Kit (which I nearly started at the weekend, but then didn’t!). Am I the only one who thought I would be completing loads of crafty projects during this Lockdown? In fact, I have been busy with digital projects/online courses/social media and blogging for business purposes etc.

This week is the Scrapbooking Live event with Design Cuts – so that has been my afternoons filled up (last one today, so tomorrow I will get a birthday card made for hubby – determined not to be so last minute – his birthday is on Monday). I also started an online course yesterday about creating Floral & Nature designs (with the aim of creating surface pattern designs professionally). Later today I will be going out in the garden/fields to gather cuttings for reference sketches. At least next week I will have something to show you.

On Saturday I have a craft workshop – online, via Zoom. It is screen printing and we have to make our own ‘paints’ using flowers/leaves etc. I have been told that dandelions make a particular good colour, and we have lots of them in our fields at the moment. There are a couple of places left (it is a donation only) if anyone is interested. 2 pm on Saturday (and then another session in May) and we have a list of supplies needed (most of which we should have in our homes already). Email me – hello@aliwade.com – if you would like to register and I will send the link.

Health-wise – no Covid-19 symptoms – but lots of Hay Fever and Fibromyalgia. I was particularly ill yesterday and welcomed the opportunity to sit in my craft room for several hours. I have only ventured out into public once – had to go and collect medication last week and do a Tesco Click n Collect. Did not enjoy going to Boots – very unnerving with all the staff in full suits/masks etc. I do not plan to go out again for several weeks at least. Managing to get a few delivery slots with either Tesco or Asda, and local shops/farms are delivering too (including our local pub, which is starting a takeaway/delivery service for meals on Fridays/Saturdays – I will be definitely ordering weekly!). Today, we have a delivery from a fantastic independent fruit/veg shop (which also sells all sorts of locally produced goodies), including some handmade mini cheesecakes, so dessert will be special tonight.

Stay Safe everyone.

Ali x

  1. Glad you are managing to get deliveries Ali. Sorry that the fibro and hay fever are playing up. That course sounds interesting but I can’t fit in any more at the moment between working from home and my crafty projects. Look forward to seeing what you make though. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. 2. Morning Ali. yes, hayfever seems to have hit! I also have had the usual eye watering symptoms – better though, if I remember to take an anti histamine in the mornings!! Hope the workshop is lots of fun on Saturday. Enjoy. Also hope you will get o opening and unpacking that great looking box before too long.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  3. Morning Ali, that work shop sounds great and yes Dandelions make great colour I would use they with my pre-school groups always lots of fun. I have many boxes like yours Ali from years gone by as much as we’d like to get all those WIPs & UFO’s out the way I’m finding my time is spent making sure everyone in the family is ok…
Happy WoywW & enjoy that class, Tracey #3

  4. Aren’t these strange times – never thought i would be overjoyed to get a Tesco delivery- i hate food shopping at the best of times. Enjoy your Zoom printing class – sounds fun ,. I am also doing an online workshop over the weekend . Take care Soojay #16

  5. Hi Ali, so sorry to hear you’re having a FM flare at the moment, with hay fever on top! Hope you feel a lot better soon. You sound busy enough, even if it isn’t with as much creative stuff as you would like. Glad you are enjoying the online courses. The screen printing sounds fascinating, and I wonder how you make pigments from dandelions and such? I suppose it’s along the same lines as natural dyes. We are still struggling to get Tesco delivery slots but my hubby will always pop down to Sainsbury’s (about 5 mins away) to get the stuff we need. Happy birthday to your hubby for Monday and I am sure you will get his card completed in time!

    Happy WOYWW,

  6. Working from home online as you do, then lockdown doesn’t really give you a time advantage for extra crafting etc does it. I hope you can remember what’s in the box from hobby craft! My sister did a 3 year degree course at UC Berkeley in textile and surface design. She loved it, hope you enjoy your online course as much! Hope you can keep well enough to keep going, these flare-ups sound horrid.

  7. Hi Ali, you are so diciplined – I don’t think I could leave a big box like that unpacked!! I am not finding I have the masses of time I thought I would and I am nowhere near where I thought I would be with my own craft projects. Weather isn’t helping as the garden calls!! I am NOT complaining. I have had to consciously step away from the online courses etc – I have plenty to get on with already!! Stay Safe, Stay well, Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

  8. Sounds like you have a great plan to keep yourself occupied. Like yourself I have only been out once since last week and don’t plan to venture out again. Gardening and crafting keep me happy. The dandelion workshop sounds like fun and I just so happen to be painting some dandelions for a card. Will try to remember to post next week. Stay safe and keep crafting.

  9. Good morning! I know the feeling of hay fever!!! Spring has sprung here in the Southern US! I have been washing off a thick layer of yellow pollen and coughing and sneezing right along. I will be so glad when Spring Clean-up is finished.

  10. Sorry you have felt rough don’t know about fibromyalgia but hay fever yes think we are past that now. I have just ventured out this morning first time for 3 weeks except the emergency trip to vets. Have you a new blog page don’t remember it looking like this. Ani #7

  11. Yes, full on hayfever here as well. That workshop sounds fascinating. Have fun and I look forward to seeing what you create. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and well. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#25)

  12. What a lovely idea making colour out of flowers, that yellow would be sunning ,
    Stay safe and well xx

  13. My you have been busy! I am only just starting to get motivated… but the garden is now calling me.
Love the idea of using dandelions to screen print, we feed ours to the chooks! The idea of the Boots staff being all kitted up was amazing, we have our tablets delivered being as we’re old and vulnerable… one daughter calls me O&V, a friend thought she meant Olive!! We did laugh.
    Take care and stay safe

  14. Is there room for one more for dessert tonight Ali? I too have been too busy with other things to craft, I had more crafting time before this lockdown. I believe it is frightening just going to do the shopping in the supermarkets (according to a friend of mine) so I can imagine in a pharmacy with them all suited and booted it must have been. I think when I get to go out I will be in for a shock. I am on a 12 week lockdown being classed as extremely vulnerable and we are surrounded by trees and no main roads so have no idea what it is like out there. Scarey!
Stay safe and well and happy
    Hugs, Neet 5 xx

  15. Hi Ali. Yes, you can use my flower photos for your sketches – if you put them out on the internet perhaps you would be good enough to state I hold the copyright for the image? Thanks
    Margaret

  16. Hi Ali, The course sounds interesting, but I’m struggling for free time myself at the moment, which is crazy when I’m working from home, and we are on a lockdown. We can’t get delivery slots with any of the supermarkets, all booked up for weeks in advance, so Mr M is doing the shopping. I’ve ventured out twice in the last month or so. I had a delivery from Hunkydory that sat in the box for well over a week – no inclination to unpack it. I looked at the crystal card kits, but couldn’t decide how fiddly they would be, so left it for the time being. Hope the hayfever and fibromyalgia settle down soon for you. Have a lovely week and stay safe Heather xx #28

  17. You can’t see me but I’m smiling because I haven’t really done much crafting over the last few weeks, just had other distractions. Hope you show us what is in the box. Have a lovely crafty week and a happy woyww, Angela x17x

  18. Morning Ali, the workshop sounds really interesting, but I don’t think I have a single dandelion in my garden at the moment. I have been trying to do a few minutes weeding each day if the M.E. permits. Don’t think I shall be doing any today, but it is nice to sit out in the sunshine for a while. Angela # 38

    1. Oh My, received my new Bible Journal goodies yesterday and so was so wrapped up in that most of the day and still not ventured into the Bible itself!!
Anyway glad you are keeping busy whatever the activity, crafting can always wait….Great that you can get all the deliveries too. My hubby has been doing the shopping the past month and the queues freaked me out. Hope you enjoyed the cheesecakes. YUM!
      Thanks for the visit BJ#10

  19. Hi Ali
Love the thought of using Dandelions to make your own colour.. and re time issue.. lack thereof, I’m hearing all my friends family cleaning up this and that snd its not on my agenda!
My hayfever has been going crazy too, bit cooler weather nights and off I go.
Glad you’ve all those deliveries too. We’ve little shops nearby so using them.
    Sorry for late visit! 😊
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love, in these changeable times. For as Paul said: “We walk by faith, not by sight.”

  20. That box definitely needs opening! I know what you mean about thinking you would have lots of time for crafting! Me too, but sometimes I just don’t have to motivation, I have to force myself to go to my craft room, then time goes by so fast, a couple of hours later I look at the clock…dinner! I don’y know why I do this to myself! Anyway, you do seem to be keeping busy, so good for you! Sorry about the days when you are not feeling well, glad that crafting can take your mind off it for a little while, anyway. Stay well, stay busy, and stay safe! Lindart #34
